Study of the histidine complex of uranium(IV): synthesis, spectrophotometric, magnetic and electrochemical properties

We synthesized the novel histidine complex of uranium(IV). A 1:3 mole ratio was found between metal and ligand by method, while –NH2 –COO– groups behave as coordinating sites. The IR spectra confirmed lone pair donating or elemental analysis stoichiometry. bathochromic shift with an increase in optical density UV-Visible range indicated that compound its central ion hold uniform electronic charge distribution. electrochemical results a quasi-reversible (neither completely reversible nor irreversible) oxidation to uranium(V) product at platinum working electrode. process shows comparatively slow electron transfer (ET) rate heterogeneous constant ‘ks’ (3.4 × 10–4 cm s-1) 50 mV s-1 305 ± 0.5 K. kinetics such diffusion lead reaction ECE (electrochemical–chemical–electrochemical) mechanism. thermodynamic parameters activation ?H*; 4.257 kJ mol–1, ?S*; -2.519 10–3 J mol–1 K–1 ?G* 4.26 helped propose associative mechanism electrode.
